Our focus

Adaptive co-management

Adaptive co-management is an iterative process of decision making amidst uncertainty. Within the proposed biosphere reserve between Loreto and Cabo Pulmo, we collaborate with local nonprofits to facilitate spaces of collaborative learning and information flow between stakeholders.

Combining various sources of knowledge

Within the proposed biosphere reserve, our collaborative research team is meeting with each fishing village to understand economic vulnerability to climate change, reliance on fishing grounds, and perceptions of conservation efforts. These conversations inform resource management to maximize resilience and wellbeing of the entire socio-ecological system.

Workshops for collaborative learning

Where are the most strategic places to designate as no-take? What is the landscape of affordances across stakeholders? Where and when are the critically endangered species reproducing and foraging? We are interested in gathering around maps to explore possible futures together.
