Our mission

Empower Ocean Stewardship from a Sailing Research Vessel

Just as the ocean cares for and connects humanity, we aim to bring the principles of care and connection to ocean stewardship. We operate an 11-m sailing research vessel that enables field-based research and builds coalitions for a healthy ocean. Driven by a desire to desire to both decarbonize marine research and uplift locally-led projects in Latin America, we see our boat as a living laboratory in which we can explore new ways of relating to ourselves, eachother, and the saltwater world.

Our current work centers on the co-creation of a climate-resilient management plans in Pacific Mexico.

Lōkahi gives me the opportunity to align my work with my beliefs. I really think that everybody should do something about climate change and many people are not doing anything. This is a great opportunity to do research and at the same time you’re not contributing to climate change. It’s unique, I’ve never seen something like that… hopefully other boats will start doing the same thing.
